Centering Prayer in East Anglia

These pages are part of the Norwich Christian Meditation Centre website. As well as information about forthcoming events, you will find resources to help introduce you to the method of Centering Prayer and its theological context, and to assist you in developing your practice.

The Groups page gives information about Centering Prayer groups in the region.

In What is Centering Prayer? you will find an explanation of this meditation practice and its relationship with the Christian contemplative tradition, some guidelines for getting started and suggestions for those who are developing their practice.

The Contemplative Outreach pages give information about the international Centering Prayer organising body, Contemplative Outreach; its founder and current director, Fr Thomas Keating; and the vision and principles which underpin its work.

The Lectio Divina section situates Centering Prayer within the broader context of the traditional monastic practice of the prayerful reading of scripture and provides guidelines and background material for how to develop a Lectio practice, individually and in a group.

Welcoming Practice outlines a method,
developed by Mary Mrozowski, a key figure in the Centering Prayer movement, for taking our meditation practice into everyday life by actively letting go of thoughts and habitual emotional reactions.

Finally, in the Resources page you will find links to related websites, a list of recommended reading and materials for use in groups.
